In a groundbreaking move to transform the local employment landscape, Volusia County's Division of Economic Development, in collaboration with CareerSource Flagler Volusia, is set to launch an innovative workforce resource system.
The newly introduced platform, WorkLocal, is a pioneering career advancement tool and mobile application. It is poised to revolutionize hiring processes by objectively connecting qualified talent with available job openings. WorkLocal allows candidates to share their career goals anonymously, facilitating connections with hiring companies through a sophisticated algorithmic matching system.
The primary objective of WorkLocal is to provide job seekers with access to opportunities that align with their skill sets.
"Our goal is to help the business community prosper while keeping our talented residents employed locally when possible. The WorkLocal talent portal will help us support economic development by providing an anonymous equal opportunity employment platform that drives prosperity and stimulates the economy in the region," said Cyrus Callum, Director of Volusia County Aviation and Economic Resources.
Powered by GoGig, WorkLocal is a free portal to attract talent and promote career mobility. It facilitates connections between passive and active job seekers and hiring businesses while eliminating implicit bias from hiring processes. WorkLocal centralizes workforce systems to stimulate the entire labor force, extending beyond the unemployed population by providing access to job seekers who may not be on traditional job boards.
"As a Florida-based company, GoGig is excited to help build more efficient talent pipelines for the region and drive workforce development in our home state," said Chris Hodges, Founder and CEO of GoGig. "With unemployment rates at all-time lows, we are excited to see economic development and workforce development agencies come together to solve a top challenge for our Florida businesses with the WorkLocal platform."
Businesses utilizing WorkLocal can efficiently identify candidates whose skills closely match their needs, resulting in more successful hires. Job seekers are encouraged to join the WorkLocal community, build their profiles, and gain access to opportunities based on their skill sets.
