Experience the Holidays in Port Orange

‘Tis the season for family fun, sparkling lights, and winter weather that calls for shorts and tees. It’s the holiday season in Port Orange, and we can’t wait to celebrate!

You may not have a “white Christmas” here in Florida, but you can enjoy all the seasonal staples that make the holidays merry: family outings, delicious food, and lights that set your favorite scenes aglow. What could be better?

Take a look at today’s blog as we share a few upcoming events worth checking out!

Winter Wonder Day

One of the most surefire ways to get into the holiday spirit is to immerse yourself in the classic seasonal activities: visits with Santa, lighting up the tree, and enjoying scrumptious holiday sweets. Halifax Health’s Winter Wonder Day serves up all of these treats, and then some.

Stop by the Pavilion at Port Orange on December 8th, from 5 pm through 8 pm, to enjoy a slice of winter fun right here at home. There will be entertainment, lights to “ooh” and “awe” at, and of course a visit from St. Nick himself. Kids will love the crafts, face painting, and holiday train rides.

Holiday Movie Under the Stars

It’s hard to imagine the holiday season without our favorite movies! On December 8th from 6 pm to 9:30 pm, the Port Orange City Center will play host to an enchanting Holiday Movie Under the Stars event, featuring visits from some delicious local food trucks like Kona Ice and Southern State of Mind. There will be cookie decorating, a visit from Santa, and, of course, the main attraction: “Christmas with the Kranks!”. This hilarious holiday flick follows Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis as a husband and wife who decide not to celebrate Christmas one year—and all the chaos that ensues as a result.

Breakfast in Whoville

We all love watching “The Grinch” at this time of year—but at the Port Orange Y, on December 16th, you won’t just be watching Whoville. You’ll be a part of it yourself! The Y is putting on a special breakfast celebration, kicking off at 9 am, which will feature your favorite Dr. Seuss dishes –including, of course, green eggs and ham—as well as pancakes, photo ops, and lots of fun and games. Email dmartin@vfymca.org for more information!

When it comes to holiday fun in Port Orange, these ideas are just the beginning. We hope that you and your family enjoy a season that’s full of fun and cheer.
