Food Truck Wars Comes to Port Orange: Rescheduled to June 30th

Thu, May 24, 2018 at 5:10PM

This event has been rescheduled to June 30th 12pm-7pm.

Port Orange, FL - On May 26th, 2018, Food Truck Wars will be taking place in Port Orange at Riverwalk Park.

Admission is free and the event begins at 12pm and lasts until 7pm. There will be 40 gourmet food trucks from all over Florida competing to win one of the 5 prestigious awards offered at Food Truck Wars.

There will also be live music, a beer garden, and a kids area. The live music will be performed by Miss inTENt, a rock band located in Daytona.

The judge’s panel for the competition includes Port Orange City Council member, Drew Bastian and Cupcake Wars winner, Jillian Hopke. The panel will be tasting food from each food truck and they will decide which trucks deserve one of the five awards. These awards include ‘Casual Cuisine,’ ‘Delectable Dessert,’ ‘Top Food Sales,’ ‘Top Ticket Taker,’ and ‘People’s Choice Award.’ There will be eliminations every 2 hours starting at 1pm and will end with awards being presented at 6:30pm.

Food is as cheap as $3 and the average meal only costs about $6 to $8. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities.

This family-oriented event is a great opportunity to get to know your community and support local businesses, such as Churros & Creme and Kona Ice which will have food trucks at the event.

The first Food Truck Wars was in 2011 and was started by Liz Rivera Otts. She is the daughter of an Air Force member and when she was younger her family would attend block parties to get to know their neighbors. Otts’ goal in starting Food Truck Wars was to bring the community together and provide a family-friendly event for everyone to enjoy.

Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, or just yourself to enjoy the delicious food, great music, and fun atmosphere. To learn more go to foodtruckwars.com.
